Transfer from the hotel in Milan to Central Station and departure for Rome in a high speed train. Upon arrival at the train station in Rome, transfer to one of the designated 4- and 5-star hotels in the city. From the hotel, guests will begin the tour, first visiting the symbol of Christianity par excellence: St. Peter’s Basilica. Here visitors can admire the majestic bronze, 29 meter high dome (built by Bernini), Michelangelo’s Pieta, the tomb of Clemente XIII of Canova and the Navicella mosaic by Giotto. Next guests will be accompanied to the Vatican Museum, which houses the works of art collected by the popes over centuries, and visit the famous Sistine Chapel.
Lunch will be in a typical trattoria. The tour will continue with a visit to the Trevi Foundation: guestst can, as tradition would have it, with their backs to the fountain, throw a coin into it while making a wish. The afternoon will conclude with a shopping spree along Via dei Condotti that brings the visitors to celebrated Spanish Steps.
In the evening, guests will have dinner at a renowned restaurant in the center before being accompanied back to their respective hotels.
For the guests, the second day of the visit to the capital will focus on discovering “Ancient Rome”. We will start at the Coliseum, the iconic symbol of Rome, move on to the Arch of Constantine, the most famous Roman triumphal arch, and end at the Roman Forum and the area of the Imperial Forum. Lunch will be served in a typical osteria.
The tour will pick up again after lunch with a visit to the Campidoglio, where it will be possible to admire the famous statues of Michelangelo at twelve points around the plaza, followed by a visit to the Capitaline Museum, home to the original equestrian statue of the emperor Marcus Aurelius. Guests wil dine in a characteristic restaurant of the city and be accompanied back to their hotel for the night.
