Venice

Transfer from the hotel in Milan to Central Station and departure for Venice by train.  Upon arrival at the train station in Venice, guests will be taken to one of the designated 4- and 5-star hotels in the city.  From the hotel, the tour begins of the canals of the most romantic city in the world.

Starting at the Saint Mark’s Square, the heart of Venice, guests will visit the Ducal Palace, the residence of the Duke and principal seat of the magistrate of the State.  Visitors going through the halls of the palace can relive the whole history and glory of the Republic of Venice.  The tour will continue with a visit to Saint Mark’s Basilica, the architectural jewel in the Venetian Byzantine style, and lunch at a characteristic bacari, the typical Venetian osteria.

In the afternoon we will explore the Square of St. Bartholomew  and the Fenice Theater, the principal lyrical theater of Venice which was completely destroyed by a fire in 1996 and subsequently rebuilt in the same style.

For dinner the guests will be taken to a typical restaurant.  Overnight in one of the selected hotels.

The following day guests will be taken from the hotel to the departure terminal for the motorboats which will go on a tour of the Venetian islands, home to some of the most authentic traditions in Venice.

The first stop will be the island of Murano, noted the world over  for its ancient tradition of glassblowing, with a guided tour of the glassblowing factory.  The tour will continue on to Torcello, the largest center in the Venetian lagoon before the birth of the Republic of Venice.  This island offers numerous testimonials of notable historic and artistic relevance, including the St. Mary of the Assumption Basilica, the legendary Devil’s Bridge and the throne of Attila.  During the stay, with a light snack lunch, guests can enjoy the pristine nature that characterizes the island.

The last leg of the tour will be to Burano, the lively island famous for its colorful houses and lace craftsmen.  After the excursion and shopping in the typical boutiques, guests will be accompanied to a trattoria where they can taste typical dishes of the area.

After dinner, the motorboat will bring guests back to Venice where they will overnight in one of the selected hotels.

Check out of the selected hotel and transfer to the airport or designated train station.
